Wow, powerful communication!

I saw this, and thought immediately of my unused blog at SXC - if anyone can appreciate the power of imagery and design it's this community!

I stumbled across this site by visiting an online newspaper to be greeted by the options "WHITE READERS click here" on the left and "COLORED READERS click here" on the right... I had to do a double take. The small print in the middle of the banner ad reads "RememberSegregation.org" -- I clicked in the middle feeling incapable of clicking on "my side" as they would refer to it on the site.

After arriving to the site I was forced to pick a side ---
I'm sure the experience would present a variety of feelings for everyone and I'm sure it's NOTHING comparable to what the experience was like in those days but the small glimpse it provided into that horrible history I found very emotional. After entering the disclaimer once again asks me to confirm that I am in the right place and the consequences of my actions should I be entering the wrong one.

Inside reveals some powerful commentary on the experience and imagery on the topic of segregation and the important role of Martin Luther King Jr. in bringing about change. In reference to January 16th, they share it "... is not just a day off. It is a day to join together in celebration of the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A day to be thankful for how far we have come. And a day to realize how far we have left to go"

I encourage everyone to take a moment to check out the site, there is also a section called "His Message" where you can listen to two of MLK's monumental speeches "I have a dream" and "I've been to the mountain top"

It's great to see people keeping his dream alive in an impactful and creative way!

Here's the site

For the pupil part where you say "Draw circle and feather 1 px," the tutorial is not clear.

Do not use the Shape tool. Instead, use the Elliptical Marquee tool and draw a circle. Then in the upper menu, go to Select > Modify > Feather. Choose 1px.

Then you can use the Paint Bucket tool to fill with black.
