A photo contest from the BBC

The categories and their deadlines are: "Hidden," July 22; "Concentration," Aug. 5; "Look Down," Aug. 19; "Heritage," Sept. 2; and "Time," Sept. 16. As with contests conducted here at SXC, the BBC encourages photographers to "interpret (each category) as widely as you can - don't just think of the obvious." Up to three images may be submitted per photographer per category.

There are only two prizes. First place wins a Nikon D40x and lens; a runner-up "whose image catches our eye," according to the BBC, will be awarded "an extra prize."

Its due to skewing of the votes by some BBC producers - all interactive, phone and web votes/competitions have been cancelled! Wah - I wanted a go :(

For the pupil part where you say "Draw circle and feather 1 px," the tutorial is not clear.

Do not use the Shape tool. Instead, use the Elliptical Marquee tool and draw a circle. Then in the upper menu, go to Select > Modify > Feather. Choose 1px.

Then you can use the Paint Bucket tool to fill with black.
